| Yurek was the leader of the Rootless Ones, who crossed the desert to Sorrow's End. His rockshaping powers enabled him to draw water from the dry desert and keep the five elves alive until they reached the oasis, where he shaped the never-drying well used by the Sun Villagers. He Recognized Savah and presumably they had one or more children, but Yurek became obsessed with the great stone arch at the edge of Sorrow's End. His powers told him that the chasm was once spanned by a bridge of rock, and he spent all his time in recreating that bridge. When he had finished the Bridge of Destiny, he was so drained that he didn't even realise it when he stepped off the bridge and plummeted to his death.
